Frequently Asked
Questions buyers ask us
If your question isn't answered here, get in touch — we prefer direct conversations to standard-issue answers.
How Equitell works
- How is Equitell different from a dealer?
- A dealer sells you their own horse. We are hired by you and represent only you. We don't own the horses we shortlist, and we're paid one clear fee — never a hidden commission from the seller.
- Can I just browse horses on the site?
- No. The horses we source are almost never publicly advertised. Approved clients receive a private, matched shortlist through the client portal after an initial consultation.
- Do you work with buyers outside Europe?
- Yes — the majority of our clients are international. We regularly place horses into the US, UK, Ireland and further afield, and we handle the vetting, transport and paperwork end to end.
Pricing & negotiation
- How is your fee structured?
- One clear engagement fee, agreed with you before we begin. No undisclosed markups on the horse. No commission from the seller. Every figure on your invoice is one you already understood.
- What price range do you work in?
- We typically work with buyers investing from €50,000 upwards, including horses at the top end of the international showjumping market.
- Will I actually save money using you?
- Our clients routinely save more than our fee. Direct negotiation with the owner, honest vetting, and cutting out layered intermediaries changes the maths in your favour.
The buying process
- How long does the process usually take?
- Anything from a few weeks to several months depending on the brief. We would rather wait for the right horse than push a compromise across the line.
- Who handles the vetting?
- Independent vets we select and brief, reporting directly to you. We never use vets arranged by the seller.
- What happens after purchase?
- We coordinate transport, paperwork and delivery, and stay available afterwards — settling in, follow-up questions, next moves. The relationship doesn't end at the border.
